Cinnamon Life Colombo Music Festival
The ‘Colombo Music Festival’ is possibly going to be the biggest and the most extravagant music event in Sri Lanka. Helmed by ‘Cinnamon Life’, this one day event is going to be the perfect melting pot of a musical extravaganza which will embed the magic of both international and local musicians.

The Colombo Music Festival will make its debut under the vibrant theme called the ‘Caribbean Night’ which will infuse the magic of some of the major names of singers of the reggae-fusion genre like Diana King, Shaggy, Maxi Priest and Big Mountain. Besides these four leading names headlining the event, the music festival will be filled with glamorous dance performances specially prepared by renowned local choreographers and dancers, and will also see many acts by local musicians as well.
One of the major advantages of people holding the VIP passes for the event is the fact that they will have access to the cool stuff happening at the backstage and also to an exclusive grandstand!

The music is inspired by the Caribbean beats which have African influence like the Soca, Reggae and Dancehall. It is not only restricted to the cult names like Diana King but the latest trending artists such as Ed Sheeran and Dua Lipa are heavily inspired by this kind of music and you can sense the borrowed influence in their musical style as well. Reggaeton is another Latin inspired genre which finds its roots in the Caribbean culture as well.

Diana King has always been known for her wonderful rendition of reggae and dancehall in her music which is also beautifully inspired by her Jamaican roots. She has been a cult favourite for over two generations and is a super famous name in the music industry.
Talking of Shaggy, everyone has heard his music at some point in their lives. He mixes reggae with dancehall like no one’s business and does it well. Who can forget his ‘It Wasn’t Me’ and ‘Angel’?! rings a bell right? He has always been a commercial success.

Maxi Priest has always blended Reggae with R&B in his music and his ‘Wild World’ is a very famous song which made him a big hit in this genre. Big Mountain is an American band which shot to fame with their hit single “Baby I Love Your Way”, after which they wonderfully commercialised Jamaican music in the 90’s.
