Working out and dieting is not something one needs to pick up like an on and off habit, but it’s a style of lifestyle which people need to choose for themselves.
With vacation season coming up for everyone, we are sure that just like us, a lot of you would be wondering the horror of breaking your diet while you travel.
However, it is quite possible to continue maintaining your diet while travelling if you keep in mind these healthy travel diet plan tips:
1. Choose healthier options
Choose healthier options on the menu and load on your proteins. Swap that chicken pizza with chicken steak or roasted chicken, swap that sugary cocktail with a glass of red wine. Healthy doesn’t always mean that you need to load on salads only. Pick one slice of pizza and go back to eating your steak. Try zucchini fries instead of potato fries. It is simple.

Stay away from sugar- Sure, resisting that pie or that brownie is difficult, but all those months of control, do you really want to sabotage it? You want cold coffee? Sure, chuck the ice-cream and go for the sugar free option. You want ice-cream? Choose a mango yogurt instead.

2. Plan your diet in advance
Before you take the trip, plan your diet in advance. For e.g, carry a few essentials along with you, like your whey protein, flax seeds, and dietary supplements, if any. Also, research the area around your hotel for healthy options on the menu so that when the group leaves for eating, you already know what you need to get.
3. Announce your diet
A lot of people don’t tell their friends that they will be on a diet while vacationing and that can be a bummer. You refuse to share the cheesecake, you skip the beer, and your companions get annoyed. It is better to tell them in advance that while you will take a bite or a sip of their food, your priorities would lie in healthy eating.

4. Cook your own meal
In case your group decides to take a cottage in the hills or rent an apartment somewhere, make sure you cook your own meals. It will obviously require some planning but will help you stick to the plan.
5. Limit your alcohol intake
This is a no-brainer. Alcohol will bloat you, give you empty calories and dehydrate you as well. Take that shot, but don’t let it turn into ten shots of tequila. Take that wine, but don’t chug on beer mugs. Alcohol is essential for vacationing with friends but you can at least limit it’s intake.

6. Avoid skipping meals
It’s given that breakfast will not happen at 9 am everyday and dinner will not happen at 8 pm. However, you don’t have to skip meals and then go overboard when you eat. This is where you need to plan in advance. Snack on nuts, green tea, protein bars or sugar free snacks to curb hunger.
