Dimsums Galore at Asia Seven, Gurgaon
Dim sums date back to the centuries old tradition of ‘Yum Cha’ which literally translates to “drink tea”. Pairing dim sums with Tea has been an age old ritual since tea is believed to aid digestion. Celebrating this idea, Asia 7 in Ambience Mall, Gurgaon holding a Yum Cha Festival. These bite sized wonders can act as the perfect appetizers or even double up as a sumptuous main course; such is the nature of dim sums.
Located in Ambience Mall amidst popular North Indian and Continental cuisine serving food joints, Asia 7 holds its ground with aesthetic interiors and exudes an aura of peace. The expansive buffet spread and live kitchen keep the diners engaged. Sip on one of their Mocktails or Teas as the soothing music takes on your senses. Italian Smooch is a harmonious blend of Gingerale, Cola, mint and lime where the ginger leaves behind an intense after-taste.
Our dim sum feast began with an array of vegetarian dim sums, bringing together an interesting combination of fresh ingredients. Cheese dim sums in chilli oil and Crystal Wild Mushroom dim sums were the best of the lot; the former being the champion. Holding Philadelphia cream cheese at its core, the sprinkle of chilli oil added an extra edge to this dish, elevating it from a simple cheese dumpling to something ethereal. Fresh Broccoli coupled with almond created another novel set of dim sums. Other noteworthy options included Spicy asparagus and chives & vegetables.
MEAT-ING DIM SUMS
While the cheese dim sums stood unrivalled, the range of non vegetarian dim sums had their own stars to boast of. The Duck and Cherry dim sums were unconventional in the unique amalgamation of duck and cherries; the latter lending it a slightly sweet and fruity flavor. Prawn Har Gao dim sums had a delicious binary of juicy prawns and crunchy water chestnuts. Another impressive basket came in the form of Prawn dim sums dipped in Thai yellow curry, where the curry had a hint of lemongrass. Chicken dim sums dipped in chilli oil were a simple yet delectable combo.
For those with a sweet tooth, you can choose from amongst a host of desserts. Their cheesecake fell flat as the signature soft texture was absent. Instead, end your meal with a cup of Jasmine Tea to have an authentic experience of the Yum Cha tradition. The soothing aroma and subtle flavor of Jasmine gives a befitting end to the meal.
For Vegetarians, the Cheese Dim sums in Chilli oil, and Crystal Wild Mushroom Dim sums are not to be missed. Non Vegetarians should add the Duck and Cherry Dim sums, and Chicken Dim sums in Chilli Oil to their bucket list.
