#GoBeyondGoLocal With Corbett The Baagh
If you are true nature lover and enjoy the wild then Corbett is definitely the place for you. The Jim Corbett National park was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park, is one of the oldest national parks in India. It is home to the endangered Royal Bengal Tigers. You can spot also spot Black Bear, Wild Boar , Hog Deer , Mugger crocodiles and many more.
A great view of the river Kosi and the lush greenery, Corbett is not just about spotting tigers. There is more. This time we went beyond with Corbett The Baagh team to experience the place as local people. Here are the things you can do in Corbett apart from Spotting the tiger :
#1 Appreciate The Natural Beauty
The drive to Corbett is definitely a beauty. Corbett The Baagh is located in Patkot village which is 28 kms inside the Corbett. From Ramnagar to the resort, drive is really awesome. We covered that distance on a jeep to enjoy the drive. The best time to visit is November to June as you get to see many birds that have migrated.
Don’t forget to have these delicious dimsums we had at a small Tea place right before our jeep ride.
#2 Interact with Mr. Imran Khan
A friendly and a powerhouse of knowledge, Mr. Imran Khan is sure to leave an impact with his enthusiasm for tiger conservation. He has been in Corbett from the past 18 years and has also promoted tourism in and around Corbett.
#3 Village Walk
Patkot Village is a medium sized village. The view from the village is breath taking. Also you could interact with the locals of the village and indulge in the local activities and traditions. Though their local language is Kumaoni but they also speak Hindi.
#4 Celebrate Local Festivals With Villagers
Luckily we got a chance to celebrate Makar Sankranti with the villagers. In the kumaon region, they celebrate it as Gugutia festival where they make Gugut from the dough and jaggery in different shapes. We really loved the small and sweet gugut. Before planning your trip you can check on the upcoming festival so celebrate with local peeps.
#5 Trek to Amtoli
Even I was surprised to know that we can do Trekking in Corbett. It’s a 6 km moderate trek from Patkot to Amtoli passing through lush green forest while spotting plants , trees , birds , small waterfalls , a school up on the hill and view of the whole Corbett.
#6 Bird Watching
Jim Corbett is home to over 600 species of bird that you can spot in the dense forest. From Doves to white Stork and Pelicans, they are very common and can be spotted easily. So keep your cameras ready and take some amazing pictures to add to your photography album.
#7 Visit To Organic Farm
Opposite to the resort , there is an organic farm with a biogas plant in it. If you’re wanna learn about organic farming or biogas then it surely is a place for you.
#8 Destress with Yoga on the hills
A combination of physical, mental and spiritual activities is Yoga. And wouldn’t it be an awesome way to distress with yoga on the hills. It is a great way to maintain weight and stay calm surrounded by scenic natural beauty.
