The All New Exciting Menu at Zambar Ambience Mall
When it comes to good coastal food in Delhi, Zambar is the first name that pops up in our heads. The exciting news is that Zambar has a completely revamped look and menu with all new scrumptious delicacies from the south. Chef Natesan from Thanjavoor, Tamil Nadu has brought his expertise of Coastal cuisine into the new menu that has preparations like Sri Lankan Kotthu roti and Coconut jaggery pudding.
Our tasting session started with Zambar signature podis and an assorted basket of 4-5 different types of fried Poppadoms and Appalams. These were served with 4 different types of chutneys and powder relishes. Rasam is the coastal equivalent of soup, and the Pineapple Rasam served with Baby Appalam was the best we’ve ever had. It has a balance sweet and chilli flavour that is perfect to warm up your palate. A chicken variant of the soup is also available as the Country style Chicken Soup with Egg drop.
For appetisers we had Karukhe Murukhe Vendakai, a dish that sounds like a tongue twister but is the good old Okra fry. Another vegetarian appetiser we tried was the Potato Cafreal, potatoes cooked in Goan style Cafreal masala. For non vegetarian starters, we were served Calamari Butter Garlic, Nadan Chicken Tikka and Srilankan Kotthu roti. Nadan chicken tikka is a south Indian version of regular chicken tikka. I personally loved the Kotthu roti which is flaky parotta served with chicken and egg.
It doesn’t end here; the Mains section in itself has over six different types of coastal delicacies including Nellore Crab Masala, Kerala Chicken Stew and Achamma’s lamb curry. My personal favourite was the Kerala Vegetable Stew.
The highlight of the meal was the desserts. The coconut jaggery pudding is to die for. It is not too sweet but has a signature flavour of jaggery mixed in a soft soufflé consistency. For those who love ice cream, tender coconut ice cream is an absolute delight.
