Like Backpacking Trips in India?
If you are one of the on-the-go travellers, who does not need a reason or person for travelling, you should be glad that you are in India. With its extremely rich cultural and geographical diversity, India comes across as one of the best backpacking destinations in the world. So let’s take a trip of what all you can do while travelling in this golden country.
#1 TRAINY JOURNEY
Travelling across India has to include numerous train journeys for you to reach different places. The Indian Railways are fantastically well-structured and have an unbelievably wide range. You will enjoy the Toy Train to Shimla as much as you will like the Chennai express(read:the actual train). Look out of the train to see the most spectacular sceneries ever, at bare minimum fares.
This recently introduced concept has revolutionarized backpacker’s travel. A zostel is where you can meet other backpackers from across the world, stay at extremely reasonable prices and still feel at home. If you are travelling across India, you have to stay in a zostel to add it to your travel diaries.
#3 BINGE ON THE LOCAL DELIGHTS
India is full of street food- and a plethora of them. Try to have the specialised street food of the place you are visiting. Golgappe in Delhi, Litti chokha in Bihar, Dosa in chennai, Rasgulla in Bengal and so on. JUST remember to keep a check on your digestive system once in a while so that you don’t get sick.
#4 HANDMADE IS FUN
While moving across the country, you will get to see quirky handmade items that will catch your eye on the first sight. From funky earrings to pretty windchimes, notepads to pillow covers, all the handmade stuff is amazing. I would suggest that you keep collecting these from all the places you visit. But make sure the vendor doesn’t overcharge you.
#5 MAINTAIN A TRAVEL JOURNAL AND PHOTO ALBUM
After investing large sum of money into travelling the country, you do not want to make it an event to be forgotten. So make sure you update your travel journal every night, no matter how tired you are feeling. I say this because at the end of the trip, this will be the most personalised account of your experience. Also, maintain a well-organized photo album. And not the photos in the mobile. I’m talking about real pictures to stick in the photo album. As they say- old is gold.
Keep these backpacking tips in mind when you plan a trip across India. This exotic land will be a fulfilment of your traveller’s dreams. Happy Backpacking Trips in India!
