The capital city of Uttarakhand, Dehradun is not only a gateway to the famous hill station of Mussoorie but itself is a beautiful retreat from the busy urban life. One of the oldest cities of India, Dehradun is a jewel among low hill areas in the Himalayan mountain ranges.

#1 Mussoorie – The Queen Of Hills
I am sure you must have heard about this place. The place is pure natural beauty. It will take you flat 2 hours to reach from Dehradun airport. You can visit so many sights here from the Kempty Falls to the Lal Tibba and Mall road just to name a few.
The best season to visit is from April to May. It is also the peak season so, book your hotels in advance but if you are staying in Dun then you can come back in the same day.
Distance by road is 59.8 km.

#2 Rishikesh – The Land of Yoga
It will take you about 40 minutes to reach this holy city from Dehradun. You can plan your trip in a way that you spend your night camping. Morning one can river raft and travel back on the same day. You will have to book camping and rafting sites in advance. It will cost about 700 to 1000 per person. But we’re sure, you’ll never forget this experience.
3. Narendra Nagar – The Rejuvenating Hill
This is one of the lesser known hill stations in Uttarakhand. To drive down here it will take just about a couple of hours. It a scenic place with a lot less population and tourists.
A great place to enjoy the beauty of the hills, Narendra Nagar has Nandi Bull statue, one of the largest in India. Don’t miss out on the popular Radha Krishna Temple here.
#4 Jim Corbett – The Tiger’s Home
If you are true nature lover and enjoy the wild then this is the hill station for you. The Jim Corbett national wildlife sanctuary is one of the oldest national parks in India.
You can spot Tigers, Black Beer, Hog Deer , Mugger crocodiles etc. For the adventure enthusiast in you this is the best place to get in touch with the wildlife. The best time to visit is from November to June.
5. Haridwar – The Holy Land
Okay, we know this is not a hill station (near dehradun) but this one is for the all the religious devotees. If you want to go take the blessings of the holy river and experience the majestic evening aarti, then don’t miss this place.
It will take you just one hour to reach from Dehradun. You can make a one day trip to Haridwar and be back by dinner time!
6. Auli – Mini Switzerland of India
It is one of the very few ski destinations we Indians have. This city is gorgeous with sky touching mountains they look like tall proud monuments under a white sheet.
Going to Auli is not only enthralling for sport enthusiast if you are a true traveler and a beauty lover you will fall in love with the surreal landscapes and the cold weather is just perfect for cozying up in front of the fire.
Surrounded by Oak and pine trees in Pauri Garhwal, Lansdowne is another unexplored hill station of Garhwal. It’s clean, quiet and less crowded hill station, perfect for peace seekers.
St Mary Church, Bhulla Tal, Tip N Top are few places to explore in Lansdowne.
8. Kanatal – Hidden Gem in Uttarakhand
It’s an another hidden gem surrounded by rivers and mountains. This suburb of Mussoorie is famous for trekking and camping. Picturesque landscapes and beautiful sunsets are to die for. You can also visit Surkanda Devi Temple which is just 5kms from the city centre.
