Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board in it’s third edition of Uttarakhand Trek Of The Year is organizing the Chaainsheel Trek which is an amazing opportunity for all the adrenaline junkies out there. Chaainsheel literally translates to “pleasant as moonlight and near the moon”. Meadows dotted with beautiful flowers and rich vegetation makes it the perfect locale for trekking and camping. Chaainsheel is about 230 kms away from Dehradun which makes it quite accessible to the trekkers. It’s a marvellous hidden gem.

Day 1: Transport will be organized from Dehradun at 6:30 a.m. The drive to Balawat takes about 10 hours. (Cost of cab per head- Rs. 1000)
Day 2: Trek from Balawat (6,283 ft) to Sunaooti Thach (10,400 ft).
Duration: 5-6 hours; Distance: 8 km
Day 3: Sunaooti Thach to Samta Thach (11,647 ft)
Duration: 5-6 hours, Distance: 7 km
Day 4: Samta Thach to Tikula Thach (10, 203 ft) via Sarutal
Duration: 5-6 hours, Distance: 8 km
Day 5: Tikula Thach to Dagaan Moriyaach (9,416 ft)
Duration: 4-5 hours
Day 6: Dagaan Moriyaach to Chinwa
Duration: 3-4 hours; Depart for Dehradun. You are expected to reach Dehradun by 10 pm.
The trek is suitable for amateurs as well as experienced trekkers. But you’ll need to prepare for it by building up your stamina.
Make the most of your trip by visiting a few places in the vicinity and trying local dishes like Shaakuli, Dhokri, Aske, Chule, etc. Kubaa Thach gives you a great view of the snow capped Himalayan Range and the famed Yamunotri is definitely worth a visit for its pristine beauty.

The cost per head is Rs. 7,750 which includes the costs of all treks from Balawat to Chinwa. GST at 5% is payable on the trek fee.
