1. Prague Castle- Prague, Czech Republic
The ‘Prague Castle’ is Prague’s most well known fascination. The complex is a well known tourist attraction and this 9th century castle, which is also a UNESCO site, is the office of the President of Czech Republic as well. It contains the remains of some of the most important Gothic formations of the 14h century.

2. Windsor Castle, England
It is best known for its royal connect to the Royal family. It is the longest occupied castle in the entire Europe and considered to be one of the most supreme achievement of English architecture. Besides being a popular destination for tourists it was also the preferred weekend getaway for Elizabeth II.

3. Chateau de Versailles, France
Louis XIV changed his dad’s chasing lodge into the momentous Château de Versailles in the mid-seventeenth century, and it remains France’s most well known and stupendous royal residence. Also called the ‘Hall Of Mirrors’, it is not only a place for tourists to flock, but is a major symbol of Monarchy in France.
4. Alcazar Castle- Segovia, Spain
Bulging out on a rough bluff over the conversion of the waterways Eresma and Clamores, the ‘Alcazar of Segovia’ is also a UNESCO heritage site. From a few edges, it would seem that the bow of a ship. Initially worked as a stronghold by the Romans, it has filled in as a Royal castle, a state jail, a royal artillery college and a military foundation. Legend has it that the palace was the inspiration for the manor that showed up in the first form of Walt Disney’s Cinderella.

5. Conwy Castle, Conwy, Wales
Conwy Castle is one of “the finest cases recently thirteenth century and mid fourteenth century military design in Europe” as indicated by UNESCO. Completed by Edward I, it cost over 15,000 pounds to be built back in the 12th century!
6. Ashford Castle, Ireland
Probably one of the only few magnificent castles where you can actually spend your vacation since its now a hotel. It was founded by the Guines family but today enjoys a wonderful reputation of being a leading hotel that is obviously very expensive but totally worth it, if you can afford a night here.

7. Edinburgh Castle, Scotland
It is a wonderful historic place for a family day out when in Edinburgh because is the is most visited paid destination in Scotland. Built on a volcanic rock, it dominates the beautiful skyline of the area and cannot be missed when you are touring Scotland.
8. Castelvecchio, Verona, Italy
This gorgeous castle in Verona, northern Italy is clearly the most important military construction of the Scaliger dynasty. It is known to be one of the most important representation of the Gothic architecture and is now a part of the Castelvecchio Museum .
