Alejandro Duran is a very famous Mexican artist who is currently settles in Brooklyn, New York. Through his work, he not only showcases his creativity but also sends a very important message. His work is mostly an entwined reflection of the impact that man and nature have on each other.

Alejandro Duran has recently been trending across the globe thanks to his genius piece of art. He collected trash that is found on the beaches across 50 nations and over 6 continent and converted that into art.

This art initiative is a part of the ‘Washed Up’ project that transforms the debris stuck on the Mexican coast into a thoughtful form of art. It basically mirrors the stark reality of what is happening on this Earth.
The ‘Washed Up’ series wants to raise awareness about what humans are doing to Mother Nature. All the debris elements reflect something in particular. For e.g- the plastic symbolises algae, roots, rivers, or fruit, and show what plastic has done to these natural elements.
Alejandaro Durán received the prestigious En Foco’s 2011 ‘New Works Award’, also his work has been included in the Bronx Biennial of Latin American Art. His work has been exhibited at the Galería Octavio Paz.

We need more artists like Alejandro who, through their creative vision, not only make art pieces which are pure genius but also instil the thought of being more responsible. It’s a combined effort after all. It’s our planet, so it makes sense that we save it.
