Losing weight is a struggle for most of us mere mortals who cannot live without insane amount of greasy food. Some of us even work it out but gulp a cola later and then blame the gym trainer. 1. Cut Down Sugar
Simply put, replace the ‘dessert’ cravings with a fruit like apple or melon. If you cannot totally stop sugar intake then at least cut it down by saying no to fizzy cola and juices which are basically empty calories.
2. Increase Water Intake
This is a magical solution to a million problems. Drinking a lot of water will help you curb bloating, deal with hunger pangs and cluster headaches and will also keep that water retention at bay.
3. Eat More Protein
Once again, anyone who tells you to cut carbs and fat completely is stupid. Unless you are planning to compete in a beauty pageant, you don’t need to cut carbs or fats but take them in moderation and increase your protein intake. You should ideally eat at least 1gm protein for every kilo in your body. For e.g if you are 80 kg, then at least 80 gm protein is required. Eggs, dairy products and chicken are best sources.

4. Portion Control
You can eat pizza, but restrict yourself to just one slice, not the entire pizza! Similarly, you don’t necessarily need to compromise on what you eat all the time as long as your portions are under control. Remember if you go out with friends, try ordering a roasted chicken or soya instead of that cheesy pasta dish. This way, you can enjoy without any guilt!

5. Walk It Out
If you have a desk job and you think that working out is not a part of your routine, then at least walk your calories. Get a fitness tracker and count your steps. Ditch the elevator for the stairs and take brisk walks whenever you can in the day.

6. Oil Control
Oil is not good for you, so control how much are you using in your meals. Also, desi ghee is a wonderful substitute for oils. Avoid frying and try your hand at baking and roasting your dishes instead.

Please remember that losing weight is a personal process and the progress depends on how our individual metabolism reacts to what we do.
While your friend might lose inches and kilos without much effort and still manage to eat everything, you’d be struggling with salads. Don’t lose hope and keep in mind that every body reacts in a different way. Good luck!
